Plunging at over 300kph, Brazilian parachutist Luigi Cani dropped more than 100 million seeds from 27 species of trees native to the local biome over remote deforested area in the heart of the Amazon.
Parachutist Luigi Cani just made one of the most important jumps of his career in the Amazon region. Cani, who holds the Guinness World Record for jumping with the world’s smallest parachute, brought more than 100 million seeds of 27 species native trees native to the biome, to a remote deforested area in the heart of the Amazon region. The action was promoted by Audi do Brasil.
“We have gone through a very exhaustive process to bring together all the tools capable of making this action possible.” said Cani. “And there is no better feeling than the moment when we touch the ground again and we know that everything has gone well.”
Cani and a cameraman plummet towards the crate at over 300k/ph (187mph) According to the Ciclo Vivo portal, around 3.7 tons of materials and equipment were sent by ship to Novo Aripuanã, in the north of the country, while other actions were carried out with an electric vehicle on land.
For the jump, a biodegradable wooden box of more than 1 m³ and 300 kg of seeds was dropped from a plane at 14,000 feet. When he got within 6,500 feet of the deforested area, Luigi Cani plunged at 300 km/h. He then reached the box in free fall and released the seeds at the correct height to ensure precise and even distribution.
