Yesterday we were made aware of a probe into Australia’s response to the pandemic. The inquiry is led by Professor Peter Shergold and funded by three of Australia’s wealthiest individuals (Forrest, Ramsey and Wylie).
An independent panel will be set up to review individual submissions. The independent panel has been asked to review Australia’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to provide a small number of practical, high-impact recommendations on how Australia can become a more resilient nation that is better prepared for future health crises. We need a seat at that table!
Closer examination into the initiative reveals, The Doherty Institute’s director, Sharon Lewin will form part of the panel, which does not sound very independent at all. This is the same institute that provided the modelling and forcing Australia into lockdown in March 2020. The Doherty Institute’s modelling was influenced by the modelling of Neil Ferguson, Imperial College London.
With that being said it is still important to make individual and group submissions. The closing date is 31 July 2022.
