Woolworths supermarket has announced a new feature for Everyday Rewards members that allows you to “track” the food you buy.
The supermarket giant, in partnership with HealthyLife, has launched the Food Tracker – a free tool that allows customers to see how healthy their weekly shops are.
Found in the “Discover” tab on the Everyday Rewards app, the feature allows you to see how much of your groceries fall into the “main food groups” category – ie, fruit and veg, meat, dairy – and what percentage is “sometimes foods”.
It’s hoped that the Food Tracker will help inspire customers to make healthier food choices and achieve a balanced diet.
“With summer just around the corner, we know many Aussies are thinking more about their health and wellbeing, as well as how they will achieve a balance in their eating habits during what is typically an indulgent season of festive celebrations,” Simone Austin, Chief Health Officer, HealthyLife, said.
“With the launch of the HealthyLife Food Tracker on the Everyday Rewards app we are providing customers with a convenient way to compare their individual shopping purchases to the Australian Guide To Healthy Eating.
“This tool is a first globally as it compares shopping data against serves suggested in the dietary guidelines.
“The HealthyLife Food Tracker provides guidance to customers about how many servings are in the food they buy, whether it’s for a one or two person household or a family with children.
“Anyone doing their weekly or monthly shop with the tracker can see at a glance what food groups they could buy less of and if they need to add more foods like fruit, veggies and grains to provide enough healthy meals and snacks for their household.”
