A Victorian police officer will be investigated after footage of a heavy-handed confrontation circulated online.

Footage captured at Flinders Street Station, as seen above, began circulating on Wednesday night.

It shows a man talking to three police officers with his arms at his side, before another officer comes up behind him.

That officer grabs the man by the shoulders and appears to throw him to the ground.

He hits the ground face-first and, according to the person who filmed the footage, he lost consciousness.

“This poor guy was calm, he was just talking to the police, you can see it in the video then he gets thrown to the ground,” the caption on the video said.

“You can see it in the video then he gets thrown to the ground. You can hear his face hit the tiles. He was unconscious, blood and urine everywhere.”
