The Bill was sponsored by Senators Canavan, Rennick and Antic.

The Senate Education and Employment Legislation Committee is calling for submissions to its inquiry into the Fair Work Amendment (Prohibiting COVID-19 Vaccine Discrimination) Bill 2023 by 24 March 2023.

The Fair Work Amendment (Prohibiting COVID-19 Vaccine Discrimination) Bill 2023 seeks to amend the Fair Work Act 2009 by adding COVID-19 vaccination status as an attribute protected from discrimination. Information about the bill is available on the APH website.

Note: The Fair Work Act only covers those who work in the private sector or the Commonwealth. State government employees come under their respective Industrial Relations Commission. I.e. A teacher or hospital worker employed by a State Government will not fall under the scope of the Fair Work Amendment (Prohibiting COVID-19 Vaccine Discrimination) Bill 2023.

If you require special arrangements to enable you to make a submission to the inquiry, or if you have questions, or need more time to write your submission, please contact the Education and Employment committee secretariat (details below).
